Actually just under 4 stars but my lunch was above average. I had the crab & corn, my husband had the crab cakes. I thought both were very flavorful. The chunks of crab were impressive in the soup. The serving lady was very nice. She replaced my husband's crab cakes when he reported the centers cold. (The second round were much better.) She checked in frequently but was not obnoxious and hovering. Not super fast, but I would not expect it to be in a bar with pretty good food.

I read reviews before I head to new places...shame on me for not opening yelp. We split a "carne asada" taco with a Mac and cheese side. The meat was no where near carne asada, some type of low quality shredded meat and they added a spicy sour cream that was actually sour! So imagine a sour and spicy low quality meat taco, I took one bite and almost choked as I swallowed it. Now onto the Mac and cheese, not typically something you can mess up, they managed to. Tasted like I was chewing on rubber. Service was great, but I'd avoid this place, waste of money.

I was told by a few friends, during my search for a joint that served decent cocktails, to check out Scarlett O' Hara's. The ambiance of the joint is divey, typical trendy little tourist trap. I had the pork sandwich, one of their signature dish. It was very good and it came with a brick of onion petals. The server was one of two for lunch. They were truly not prepared for the amount of business that they had that day. Our server was excellent and told us up front that he was covering this side of the restaurant and that if we needed something that we should just holler to get his attention. The manager was bussing tables and seating customers. My wife had a drink from the bar and it was well made and a reasonably priced. All in all it wasn't a bad experience. Scarlett's is a place I've wanted to try ever since reading Gone With the Wind. Since this was the first time I ventured to St Aug after turning 21, I gave it a try! My boyfriend and I sat outside at the bar and enjoyed some live music. The drink specials were awesome- $3 sangria, $2 domestics, and more. I was impressed. This is a nice casual bar with a fun feel.

We stopped here because I wanted something other than a sandwich. I ordered the fried chicken. After being dropped twice, it still wasn't cooked through. Rather than try again and dry out all the open parts, the server suggested I try something else so I ordered the special. Meanwhile, I have to eat my sides so they don't get cold. Server comes back and they don't have the special I ordered. Someone forgot to erase the board. So I take the server's recommendation for some special chicken sandwich even though I didn't really want a sandwich. While waiting, I was brought a free beer. As I don't drink beer and had ordered a cocktail, that didn't appease me. My sandwich came with free soggy fries, the bun was too big for the size of the chicken, and the chicken was overcooked and so dry I couldn't eat it. At this point, I gave up as we had already wasted too much time and needed to make a tour. So I spent $11 on a sandwich I nether wanted nor enjoyed. (the server was very apologetic)

When I last visited Scarlett O'Hara's on what should have been a busy Friday night, it was almost completely empty save for a few folks dancing to the mediocre tracks on the dance floor. Not more than two seconds after being seated, we realized that it was likely empty because of the overwhelming stench of urine and vomit (no exaggeration). We tried to give it a fair chance and ordered a round of drinks, but the smell was simply too offensive to stay any longer. I give them 2 stars because the drinks were acceptable (nothing fancy) and the service wasn't objectionable (but not anything I would describe as friendly). I hope that this was just an "off night" (as the locals in our group suggested) but I won't be in a hurry to return anytime soon.

It was literally the worst fired chicken I've ever tried in my life! It's served with a insignificant side of white gravy (of which has zero flavor). Truly a crappy experience! I strongly suggest anyone looking for a decent meal to go elsewhere. Especially if you're on vacation looking for a joint to relax and enjoy good food, this is not the place. The only reason it received 1 star, aside from the fact I can't simply give it a negative star, was their almost decent house margarita. It's was ok, not great, but drinkable.

Late night when the snowbirds have taken over, this place had an open table. We were seated next to windows that didn't open, so it was humid and sticky. Our drinks came quickly but the appetizer was slow. I asked for an order of mozzerella sticks and they came and after one bite I was done. Something was wrong because the cheese was more like ricotta. I'm surprised I didn't get sick. The waitress didn't even offer to replace them. Disappointed!

Interesting find. Wanted to go to the Floridian, however it was closed as they say they are filming a show for Emeril. Alas, after paying $5 to park, we looked around and found ourselves here for dinner. We were greeted awkwardly at an entrance, which appeared due to construction. The place itself is interesting. Lots of obvious Gone With The Wind references and decor. Had a happy hour 2 for 1 special and little buffet. The menu is limited but passable. It seems it thrives on Flagler college students, and a smattering of others like us. Hot Wife had the salad, which was unacceptable. Any slimy lettuce does not go undetected. She does not wish to contract ecoli or hepatitis, so numerous pieces were removed, leaving half of the salad uneaten at minimum. The lettuce was not crisp in any way shape or form. This needs to be addressed. The service was good. Had a younger version of Matthew McConaughey from Dazed and Confused. Awkward mustache, but he got some digits from a younger girls table, so alright alright alriight.

The restaurants namesake is Scarlett O'Hara, one of my all time favorite book characters! The interior pays homage to Gone with the Wind with grandiose paintings of both Scarlet and Rhett. However, the similarities to the socialite star and to Antebellum glory ends here. The restaurant resembles more of a post Civil War shanty-town with its loud music, high top tables, low brow food selections, and TV scattered around. If its intimacy and refined music you seek, look no further than NEXT DOOR at Rhett's Piano Bar and Brassier! Sleek sophistication and "Old World" dinning await, not to mention a commanding painting of Rhett Butler looming at the entrance! Hello Nurse! While Rhett's is certainly rooted more in Southern luxury, it does not have the one tantalizing object calling me back--- the GIANT Chicken Wings! The Anti-Antebellum ramshackle of Scarlett O'Hara's is a curious contradiction but when surrounded by Gone with the Wind memorabilia and eating the worlds BIGGEST Chicken Wings the thought goes out the window! Perhaps if author Margaret Mitchell ate here she'd re-title the book, "Gone with the WINGS!"

Really good food and drink specials. $2 domestics like Yeungling and $3 crafts like shocktop and Sam Adams. I had the BBQ pulled pork taco and a grilled shrimp taco. Both were super flavorful. My bf had the enchilada and he loved it. They also have really good corn bread. The onion rings however were not good. They seemed under cooked and the batter just slid right off of them. I recommend this place, just skip the onion rings. :)

I'd really give this a 3.5 if I could. The 2nd night on vacation, my husband and I made our own impromptu bar crawl. Scarlett O'Hara's made the cut. We both dug the atmosphere, and service (and drinks, of course!). It was a fun, but chill spot, which is my kind of place. The 2nd time, we met up with friends also randomly staying in St. Augustine and decided to go for dinner. The food was...okay. it wasn't bad, as it was mostly your typical bar grub; all things fried. But things were just very greasy. And while I like the occasional fried fish, or chicken, I don't want, or need the grease. I'd definitely go back for drinks! Service was great, both nights.

It was a weird, hard to eat yet still pretty delicious concoction of fried onion served with dipping sauce. The real star of what we had to eat were the maple bourbon bacon chicken wings. They were sticky, sweet, crispy and decilicous, perfect with my cocktail (Rhett's last straw, made with local St. Augustine gin!) all in all good food and drinks, our waitress Sara was really great.

To the new owners: Job well done. We love the history of this place. The previous ownership let it go to waste. However, the new owners are killing it. The new menu is fantastic! I will never return to this bar again. First the bartender was unfriendly and took my drink order but not my girlfriends then after a few minutes came with my drink and got mad when my girlfriend ordered the same drink after about a minute he returned with my girlfriends drink which was bright red while mine was yellowish orange after she took a sip she literally thought he didnt put any alcohol in hers so we decided to just finish our drinks and leave but the whole time we were trying to drink he sat there staring at us to where we had to try and focus on eachother or stare at the tv to avoid making eye contact with him. Finally we finished our drinks asked for the check and he had to make some rude comment about us leaving by far the worst bar i have ever been to if you are even considering going here there are places close by where you will get great service and actually have a good time.

Was pleasantly surprised at the new menu. It is all southern fair and everything I tried was delicious. We had the sourdough spin dip for our app and it was seriously the best spinach and artichoke dip I've ever had!! My boyfriend got the bacon wrapped meatloaf with collard greens and mashed potatoes and i got the fried chicken with sweet potato casserole and broccoli and cheese. I love what the new owners have done with the place and I'm looking forward to seeing what's to come!

Everything went wrong after sitting at the bar here at Scarlett's. The bartender was a small brunette female who was super rude. The menu was truly disappointing- it was nothing but sub-par bar food! My 9 dollar drink came served in a plastic cup. Speaking of the drink- I ordered the "Gone with the wind" and it was so sweet with schnapps' I couldn't even drink half of it. Gross. Then the sky opened up and starting POURING down rain, leaving us STUCK here. No one was happy with their drinks or appetizers so we did not order anything else. We braved the rain to go next door to Rhett's. Or should I say, we braved the heavy lightening and thunder in order to leave... Thought this place would be something COMPLETELY different. We were wrong! Has college bar written all over it...

We were looking for a place to eat amongst the construction in Historic St Augustine on a hot day. We were disappointed to find a couple of places completely closed for lunch due to the construction, and eventually we decided to eat here. I could see how eating dinner here, on a cool evening without construction might be very charming. However, my Mahi-mahi sandwich was dry and overcooked, a serious disappointment. My wife said her burger was ok, but she's never had a burger she didn't enjoy, and hasn't mentioned it since (if it was really good I would have heard about it by now). Overall, not worth the price and we certainly will not be returning if ever in the area again.

I was there a year ago and the place was packed with a great live band. We danced all night and had a blast. Went in last night (Saturday), and there was a crappy dj playing music that no one was dancing to, and the place was not packed at all. Paid the bill, and went to the White Horse. Wish I could comment on the food! The first time we went we waited for about a half an hour before the waiter came and said, not "I'm sorry for your wait." but rather, "I was giving you time to decide." No drink order, no water, no thank you, we left. Thinking we would try again a few months down the line and we didn't want to condemn them completely for the actions of one waiter, we returned on June 11 in the evening . The establishment was not busy. We were seated and told,"Your server will be with you in a sec!" About 10 minutes later, we decided to leave. On the way out there were no less than 5 staff messing around in the hall between areas. Two seemed to be practicing their dance moves, none seemed interested in working. This is not how hospitality should be run. While the staff are certainly culpable the real problem is with the management, or lack there of. Fortunately we were able to find another restaurant that offered service instead of blank looks. We will not try again.

I've been here two Thanksgiving seasons in a row and both times have been awesome. The two for one margaritas is an amazing deal- margs are about $4 each so the 2 for 1 deal gets you pleasantly buzzed. We got pulled pork enchilada and that was delicious but what really made us go WOW was the Jalapeño Cheese Grits. Even if you hate grits you'll love these. It's not super spicy. It's perfect, just like Scarlet O'haras.

I've been here a number if times. It's close to Flagler College and in the center of town. Night life is the best time for fun and a great meal. They used to do karaoke on Friday evenings. Not sure what's going on there now. I'm sure it's fun, no matter what they're doing. The food is good and the beer, cold.

Came here for $1.50 tacos but realized once we got there it was only from 4-7 and guess what? It was 7:05. Oh no! What a fun bar! While on vacation I managed to visit this spot twice! I was so impressed with the first visit so I had to go back and bring my friends! Who doesn't love GWTW? Even if you're not a fan you will appreciate the beer! They have pictures from the film throughout the establishment and they even offer a Scarlett Red Beer! Of course, that is what I had to try. It sure was delicious. Both visits it was easy to get a drink and the bartenders were nice. They do have a $2 cover; at least they did both nights I went, but that's not much of a cover at all. No biggie. They have outside seating (some rocking chairs), an outside bar, and an upstairs area as well as the indoor seating and bar. Most nights they offer a live band and both nights I enjoyed the music. It does get crowded so you will need to be sure you move through crowds well. I'm pretty good at that. If you are in the area it is worth stopping by for at least a drink, and maybe you can snap a picture with Scarlett while you're there?!?! I recommend it.

The two stars are for the location and the lovely live music we are listening to (mixed with annoying loads music from the bar right next to us). My husband and I were starving when we walked by and decided to share fish and chips. We also ordered the fried green beans to share. Well let me just say I'm not a picky eater at all but the food tasted so horrible I literally had one fried green bean, one small piece of fish and two fries. I don't know if the oil was bad that everything was fried in but it made my stomach turn and I just could not eat the food even though I was starving. I did enjoy the draft jai lai they had.

When I say I love pork, I firmly stand behind the "other white meat" - i LOVE it. So, needless to say when I see a pulled pork BBQ sandwich, i start foaming at the mouth! They also have solid margaritas on the rocks. The restaurant has a cute old time house feel that matches the little old town. They have a front porch that has live musicians gracing the airwaves as you relax and enjoy your lunch or dinner and take in the surroundings. Inside there is a musty smell that takes you back to an old time saloon and has various gone with the wind memorabilia and portraits. This is a great little period restaurant and when in the area, it's a definite stop on the tour!

Went here after doing a web search for restaurants in St. Augustine and this place came well recommended. We were greeted upon walking in the front door and were seated immediately. We sat upstairs in a little bar area that was pretty cool. We ordered a bar b que plate to share since it looked like a ton of food and we were not wrong. Huge portion of ribs, pulled pork shoulder and fries. Good food with a nice smoky sauce that we both enjoyed. Our waitress was really cool, my wife and I are a bit picky and when it comes to a few things and my wife asked if she could taste the BBQ sauce before we ordered the ribs and without batting an eye or making us feel like we were hassling her she got us a portion cup and made sure we were happy. Also, a big deal for me is that my soda is filled a lot and it was. It was about 3pm on a Sunday so to say they weren't crazy busy is accurate but still a good number of people even between the lunch and dinner rushes but everyone was being helped. The meal was filling, the price was decent and the food was good and the service very good. We enjoyed it and will go back again sometime.

Ugh. Since my last review, I've gone back to Scarlett's twice. Absolutely HATED every second of it. If you get a chance to go during the daytime- the place isn't half bad. It's not a bad place to sit at the bar on the back porch, enjoy a meal and a cold beer, and watch the tourists walk by. Food isn't amazing, but it's not half bad, and the service is usually decent... But by night, the douchebags come out, guns blazing... This place SUCKS. Absolutely PACKED- you will not be able to go in or out, and if you do somehow get a table or a chance to get inside, you will not move. Period. Will take you HOURS to get a drink. Will take you HOURS to go to the restroom. Bouncers are dicks to the highest degree. This place drives me insane with rage, and I will NEVER go back. There are DOZENS of great bars in the area- choose ANY of them over this place.

The French Dip is a simple meal to begin with, and it doesn't take much to make a great one. This was one of the most forgettable ones I've had. Not very meaty and not very flavorful. Meh...that's about all I can say. My family and I went for lunch on a Monday and the food was just OK. In retrospect, I might have sat outside if it hadn't been so hot and at midday; that looked like a happening place. Inside it seemed like a pretty cool place, but it didn't really measure up for me. The high point was definitely our server, Collin, who was attentive and gave us information about the city. I know it's "bar food" so I wasn't expecting fine dining, but my fish and chips was lukewarm at best. They didn't have the drink I ordered, either. I wouldn't say I'd run back here, but I can't say I'd refuse, either.

Scarlett's is a bar, and they serve bar food. They are not trying to be fancy or ostentatious. It is a place for regular folks to go hang out, have a drink and get some bar food. It's one of the more affordable places around the St. George street area and I have always been happy with the food I have ordered there. It's a little grungy and the service is sometimes a bit slow but these are the things you should expect for a place like Scarlett's. If I were going to complain about something I suppose it would be the cigarette smoke. I'm spoiled living in a place were smoking isn't allowed even on the patios.

Happy hour outside is where it's at! If you're downtown and looking for some fresh seafood, I recommend the bucket of steamed oysters and the peal & eat shrimp. The staff is young (and fun) and it's very affordable. I've had other things there that are exactly as good as they should be (nothing mind-blowing). They're consistent!

It's our second day in St. Augustine and we're driving around the town trying to find a place to eat because we're STARVING. We remembered the waitress at so and so reccommended this restaurant to us so when we came upon this place we decided Scarlett's it is. First off, I love the fact that this was a house built in the 1800's. The look inside this restaurant is very warm and inviting. What I found a bit creepy though, is that upstairs which is called the "Ghost Bar" is where the owner of the house drowned in his bathtub. SCARY! The waitress said sometimes customers can feel his presence. GLAD I didn't because I am the scaredy cat of ALL scaredy cats! Luckily, we sat downstairs. Our waitress was heedful and kind, but I have to admit the food was pretty mediocre. Though the onion rings were tastey (they add hot sauce to them), the BBQ pork sandwich and mashed potatoes were a bit tasteless to me. Nevertheless, this is an excellent bar to hang out and have a few drinks!

Scarlett's is a great dive in downtown St. Augustine. We typically make a stop when sightseeing to grab a couple cold beers. There is a trolley stop nearby and if you are riding you can hop off, grab a beer and make it back before the next one comes.

I have been coming to Scarlett O'Hara's for years. It has pretty good burgers and beer. But I wouldn't suggest going crazy with the menu. It's just bar food. The restaurant has a pretty dark interior that is cavernous! It would be great for groups but it does have a smell of stale beer. For this reason I only sit outside at the bar or at the tables on the porch, where there is usually live music and good people watching. It's always fun out there and, if nothing else, you can watch one of the many televisions.

My family & I stopped into Scarlett O'Hara's for lunch one afternoon & although we enjoyed sitting outside we were hoping for more than 'bar food'. Speaking of bars, there is a bar inside & outside of the establishment. OHaras offer a large menu with many options however overall, most items are fried or typical tourist dive restaurant type options. The price point is a little high for the quality of food in my opinion. I know that this location & Rhett's (next door) is a tourist hot spot but I think there are probably better local options with better quality food. If you are looking for a great place to grab drinks and maybe an appetizer then this is a spot to consider. Beyond that, this is not a place for a dining experience. Service was poor, at best. Overall, we had an OK lunch but I would try other places before ever returning.

Scarlett is sort of the tourist bar/restaurant of St. Augustine. Fairly decent drinks, better than average bar food with fairly decent service and attractive surroundings. It's one of those places on the tourist destination map that generally turns out to be a must stop. Is it gimmicky? Yes, but that is what most likely adds to its popularity. It's not a chain, but I found the atmosphere to be rather chain like, anything but leisurely and laid back.

I stopped here on a friends recommendation. While the location is tucked away, it does have adequate parking around the corner.....FYI, parking is $6.00. When we entered the restaurant, several tables were dirty where people had just left, (or at least I hope they did) so it took a few minutes for a staff member to clean a table where we could have a good view of the whole restaurant. There is no hostess, so you will need to sit yourself. I would probably classify this as a dive location, with a flare of southern "bitchiness". It reminded me of a bar / food eatery when I was in college. There may very well be a reason I had this flashback, as a college is just around the corner. For starters, the outside patio was crowded and the folks appeared to be very happy with the drinks and the food. We sat inside so that we could take in the whole dining experience and decor. My wife had the chicken tender platter, with fries and cole slaw. The slaw had more of an onion taste than we were used to but it was good. I had the hearty french dip with fries and cole slaw. The french dip was very nice, lots of provolone cheese, bread was hot and fresh, and the au-jus was enough to complete the whole sandwich. I was surprised at how fast we were able to eat this meal, as it was just too good to put down. I would come back here again, but do not expect this place to satisfy your fine dining or eclectic taste. This is a dive bar/restaurant, which serves good food at a fairly reasonable price. This was a terrible place to go. For one, they charged a $2 cover fee, for a band that wasn't playing. Me and my boyfriend went upstairs to get a table to eat. The waitress took our drink order, then came back a few minutes later with my beer and a water because she forgot what he ordered. We reminded her and she went back to get it. She later took our dinner order, again not writing anything down. I got fried shrimp and he ordered crab cakes. She comes back a few minutes later to see if pickles and onions were ok for him, which made me suspicious since he got a platter, but I didn't say anything to her because she left too quickly. When the food came out there was a BBQ sandwich and shrimp scampi. Another person brought our food out and thought the wrong table number was written down there. But our waitress came and said that was our food, and I had to correct her that we neither ordered Bbq sand. Nor shrimp scampi. She looked confused and walked away, never once apologizing. Worst service I've ever received. I understand it's a bar, but that was just pathetic. Don't waste your time or money going here!!

We wanted a "fun", casual atmosphere & a location that was close to everything for my son's rehearsal dinner. Not being from Florida, or anywhere near it for that matter, I had to depend on what others had to say. So, I had checked out the previous reviews for Scarlett O'Hara's & I was a little hesitant to book it from what I read. After several conversations with Corinna, the manager, we decided to go for it. We are all so glad that we did! We arrived a couple days before the wedding and found out that it was two doors away from the house we had rented, so why not go over, get a drink & check it out. We sat on the outdoor porch(middle of the day), people watched & enjoyed our drinks. Great drinks! Great atmosphere! The night of the Rehearsal Dinner, the staff could not have been more accommodating. We had the Ghost Bar to ourselves filled to capacity with 32 people. We had our own private bar & bartender which helped. Before we sat down, it was a little crowded, but not too bad. The food was served quickly & efficiently. I wasn't expecting much from the food, figuring that it would be the typical bar food, but was pleasantly surprised. This is not a high end restaurant, so don't expect that type of food. Absolutely everyone (all 32) loved their meal and felt the food was excellent, prepared well and with good presentation. I watch Restaurant Impossible, so feel like an expert on this. :) The bill & charges were exactly what we had agreed to, so I was really happy about that. We came back the next night after the wedding. They had a great band again. All in all... this is a fun place to go with great atmosphere, great food, great entertainment in a great location in historic downtown St. Augustine. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for just hanging out or for that small private party.

The front porch is the place to hangout at Scarlet O'Hara's. I've never eaten here, but for a chilled beer on a hot day, it's pretty nice. The building has the look of a rustic old southern home and the front porch has been expanded to feature a bar. Often times there is a musician or two playing on the porch. All this plus it's location right in the historic downtown make it a really relaxing place to chill.

My boyfriend and I were wandering around St. Augustine and were trying to pick a place to eat. We wanted something good, but not hugely pricey. After passing up a few restaurants because of their prices, we happened upon Scarlett's and decided that we were hungry and it looked good enough... with the number of people there it had to be good, right? wrong. My bf got the steak and grilled shrimp, which left him hungry and feeling ripped off. I got the ribs, which I just personally hated. I'm very sensitive to spicey foods and the amount of pepper on them burned my mouth so badly I could barely eat 3 ribs even when I tried to drown them with bbq sauce. The bf didn't have an issue with my ribs though, so it's just a personal preference. In the end, we both left feeling like we could have gotten a much better meal for much less money somewhere else... and we're still wondering why there were so many people. No, I would never go back there.

Won't tell you how long I've been going to Scarlett's legally but wow- am I getting old! Anyway it's still one of my fave places to go when I'm home- not just for the memories- but cuz it's cool. Grab a beer and sit in a rocking chair on the porch and watch St. Augustine walk by. Seriously fun both day and night and the food may be pub grub but its good. If you can't sit outside (and those rockers fill up really fast) then the next best place to sit is upstairs. There's rumors of a ghost but in all my too many to count visits, I've never seen it. Maybe next time...

Great place. Been coming here for years. The bar food is typical sports bar food. The wings ate great! The red velvet cake dessert is totally awesome!! The atmosphere is very good, and they had a great 80's band there on Saturday night when we were there. Don't do the absinthe!!!! It is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't say it enough. We went here for a few drinks on my bachelor party night. A truly great St. Augustine place!!

Great place to hang out and people watch. The food is cheap for St. Augustine. I love their onion rings, sweet tea and French dip. It's just the right place to go to on night one of your vacation, if you are looking for fast service and good food that's close enough to walk to from just about any hotel in downtown. It's has live music on the porch and is located in a great old house and creeks and squeaks in all the right places. As it's name implies, it's done up with Gone With The Wind style. Another great place that the locals tend to hang out at.

Ok. It could be that it was July 4th weekend but our waitress acted as if she'd rather be on the beach than serving us, mixing up drink and food orders. I was looking forward to good old southern fried chicken and mashed potatoes. The chicken was burned and the potatoes tasted sweet like they had sugar in them. My husband and I chose to do a restaurant/bar hop yesterday around St Augustine to take advantage of the beautiful weather. Scarlett O'Hara's was our 2nd stop on our tour. We were lucky enough to get a spot on the porch to enjoy the perfect day! I had the Scarlett O'Hara cocktail from the menu and thoroughly enjoyed it. We chose to do appetizers and drinks at this stop. We had the nachos and drinks. They had the limited menu with about 3 over prices options. My party got one of each from the $12 burger, the $11 dollar BBQ pork sandwich, and the hotdog (I think it was like $8). First, I asked if they had sweet tea and the waiter seemed very unsure if they did. He then said that he thinks they do so I asked for it. It wasn't sweet at all and he didn't give me a straw. It took asking for a straw two times to get one after I had already drank three fourths of the tea. We then asked if we could have the meals with a double order of fries instead of a side of fries and cole slaw. The server said it should be fine. After waiting a long time for our meals, we get overcooked dry burgers, a hotdog that looks like it came from a baseball stadium, and a pork sandwich that was lacking flavor to be worth $11. Also, it turns out they couldn't do two sides of fries instead of the coleslaw and the server didn't bother to let us know before our food came out. We tried the coleslaw and it was awe full. Another thing, the drinks came in a plastic cup, and the food in a paper plate that they use in stadiums. When we asked for ketchup, they brought us a bunch of ketchup packets and the silverware was ALSO plastic! The server barely refilled our drinks and paid little attention to the fact that the food that was terrible. Over all, it was a terrible experience and I would not return, even if the real menu is supposedly great, because the service was terrible and the food options that were on that limited menu was prepared poorly! You would think that with a limited menu, and at a slow service, the food would come out perfectly crafted, but that was not the case at all!

After walking past this place for I don't know how many years, we finally decided to give it a try. It does have a charming feel about it and it is always crowded. Of course I usually go the St. Augustine on a weekend, but this was an exception. We went on a Wednesday eve. It wasn't crowded when we got there, but was filling up when we left. We each ordered a side salad and fish and chips. The fish and chips were hardly authentic. They were more like fish fingers and the chips were skinny, little fries. I didn't get a lot of fish taste when I bit into the tiny fingers. They weren't awful, but I was expecting higher quality than Mrs. Paul. The tartar sauce was also kind of bland, which didn't help. Give it a try. You may have better luck with the other menu choices/

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. The place was packed, so we had to scrounge for a table. (it's "seat yourself") The setting in this establishment is mostly a bar-like atmosphere with paintings of Gone with the Wind characters and scenes on the walls. I have to start off with the bad news. The service at this place was terrible. The table we ended up getting was one that had half eaten food on it, and one that we had to hover over to ensure we could sit there. It took several minutes for someone to clear it. On to the food. We all ordered simple sandwiches, and we spent just under an hour until our food arrived. I know the place was crowded, but that's a little ridiculous. As far as the food quality, it was actually pretty good, but it should've been for the length of time we sat there. If this place could figure out their service, especially on a Saturday around midday, then they'd definitely be a lot better off.

Very fun little bar for a good kickback. Here's a great place to grab a drink after a long day of walking the historic district. My fiance and I grabbed a few drinks here befor our dinner at Retts next door. We were fairly impressed. They have a very fun and casual environment, full of all kinds of crowds including drunks, hippies, families, wedding parties (weird) and people that just happen to be walking by. The drink selection is good, but my lady did complain that her drink was too strong (good looking out guys). I never did try the food so I'll let you know on that next time. I'll be back.

The place has a great look to it and of course if your in St Augustine you should try to have at least one drink there. Shoot for happy hour because this place gets way over capacity....at least it looks like it. They have an outside deck, it's small but in the summer it's awesome to sit at and people watch. I have been coming here since the mid90s. It is always a first and last stop on my trip. In college, it was the place to go every Thursday night in St Augustine. Amazing bar food. The burgers are always juicy, the shrimp is never overcooked, and drinks are strong. The rum runners are FANTASTIC!!! They will make them with 151 but be careful because you will be drunk after 2 (and if you are a lightweight, not even 1) and they are not even $7. It is a dive bar and it serves bar food but its obvious from the outside. They never rush you. Definitely underrated. I've never had anything bad here. BEST bar food!!!

Great location, food was OK at best. I was so torn on this place. I was not sure whether to give one star or two. We saw this place as we toured the city on the tram. It looked like a great pub that we would like to visit. They had a sign outside that listed their specials of 50 cent wings, oysters or shrimp which was the reason that we decided that this would be the place for our dinner. You just cannot beat the price. The place was packed and we found a nice pub table to sit at. We ordered our drinks and were served our drinks quickly. My husband ordered 6 oysters, which came in various level of being steamed (they do not server raw). He ordered the lightest steamed oysters. The waitress mentioned that they just got a new shipment in today.To our surprise they came in a bucket and platter unopened. He needed to shuck them open to eat them. He ate 5, but when he got to the 6th one, it was bad. He told the waitress, who tried everything to make it right for us. I order the medium hot wings, which we good, but not the best I have ever had. So I would have to say that this was not a memorable place for us. Too bad...we wanted this to be a wonderful find...oh well.

NO NAY NEVER. As my experience with Scarlett's has grown, so has my disdain. The thing about Scarlett's is, you can go there any given night, and have an okay time. But you will always know you could be having a way better time at any number of other nearby establishments. Scarlett's has become a go-to for the lazy. Hordes of people have it at the top of their local night-out list solely due to convenience, and that's a damn shame. For the price of cover and a drink at Scarlett's, you could be on drink three or four at several other bars in the area, AND not getting harassed by some leathery boatcougar who can only express herself in slurred obscenities and the sound "HAW HAW HAW". Is Scarlett's a redneck bar? No! That would be tradewinds. Is Scarlett's a hipster bar? No! That would be the Tavern. Is Scarlett's a bar for a mixed crowd of cool people? No! That would be No-Name. So what IS Scarlett's? It's the sort of place where they close the kitchen at 11:00, and then if you try to eat outside food on the porch, even though you're drinking their alcohol, some dork bouncer with a douchebag bleach-tipped fauxhawk will power-trip on your ass and tell you to eat on the sidewalk. Scarlett's is a dive of the worst possible kind: a dive with an ego. This place sucks. Avoid.

We came as tourists to this neat town and this establishment popped up in internet research. The name and description implied some sort of entertaining reminiscence of "Gone with the wind", so we went for lunch. The good: Our waitress was very friendly and the food was not bad. We sat outside, which gave us some fresh air and we watched the tourists go by. The bad: the place reminded me of a dive. Sure, Scarlett's is dirty. Sure, it's slightly on the sketchy side. Sure, it looks like you might have the immediate urge to wash yourself just by walking by, but no one can argue the fact that Scarlett's is a darn good place to hang out. Scarlett's is basically the epitome of down home local night life in St. Augustine. Walking through the door, you're as likely to see a few tourists as you are to see your 7th grade English teacher, and fourteen kids you went to high school with. During the semester, Scarlett's is also a regular hang out for Flagler College students. The drinks tend to be a little more on the expensive side, but what they make you over-pay in drink prices, they make up for in people-watching. Scarlett's features a karaoke night, trivia night, happy hour daily, and live music on the weekends. The bands featured are usually great, but, like any local music scene, can sometimes miss the mark. Contrary to popular belief, you can eat the food there. The weekly wing specials are a favorite with the Flagler crowd. Don't feel like paying cover on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays? That's fine. Head down the street to the No Name Bar on the bay front. Sure, the drinks are cheaper over there, but it's a whole lot less grimy than Scarlett's, and who wants that? Part of Scarlett's charm is the fact that it has just the right amount of sketch and local flare.

Down for a few days for a business trip, another Rhode islander had told me to find this place, and I'm glad I did! Steamed oysters, spicy chicken wings,shrimp and even fried alligator were tried by 3 of us,and we couldn't believe how much we got for so little coin.My only complaint was that the beer wasn't very cold, but the selection made up for it. I think our bill came to 80.00 before tip and we ate a LOT of the items listed above as they were offered at 50 cents each (not the gator). Fun atmosphere...dive-ish in a cool way, with a nice outside deck . Any time I'm in St. Augustine down the road? I'll be stopping back here !

Went out with some USA students for the Auggy experience and ended up at O'hara's. Interesting inside and out, there is always something to look at. After dark on the weekends, they have a DJ. Actually just under 4 stars but my lunch was above average. I had the crab & corn, my husband had the crab cakes. I thought both were very flavorful. The chunks of crab were impressive in the soup. The serving lady was very nice. She replaced my husband's crab cakes when he reported the centers cold. (The second round were much better.) She checked in frequently but was not obnoxious and hovering. Not super fast, but I would not expect it to be in a bar with pretty good food.

I read reviews before I head to new places...shame on me for not opening yelp. We split a "carne asada" taco with a Mac and cheese side. The meat was no where near carne asada, some type of low quality shredded meat and they added a spicy sour cream that was actually sour! So imagine a sour and spicy low quality meat taco, I took one bite and almost choked as I swallowed it. Now onto the Mac and cheese, not typically something you can mess up, they managed to. Tasted like I was chewing on rubber. Service was great, but I'd avoid this place, waste of money.

I was told by a few friends, during my search for a joint that served decent cocktails, to check out Scarlett O' Hara's. The ambiance of the joint is divey, typical trendy little tourist trap. I had the pork sandwich, one of their signature dish. It was very good and it came with a brick of onion petals. The server was one of two for lunch. They were truly not prepared for the amount of business that they had that day. Our server was excellent and told us up front that he was covering this side of the restaurant and that if we needed something that we should just holler to get his attention. The manager was bussing tables and seating customers. My wife had a drink from the bar and it was well made and a reasonably priced. All in all it wasn't a bad experience. Scarlett's is a place I've wanted to try ever since reading Gone With the Wind. Since this was the first time I ventured to St Aug after turning 21, I gave it a try! My boyfriend and I sat outside at the bar and enjoyed some live music. The drink specials were awesome- $3 sangria, $2 domestics, and more. I was impressed. This is a nice casual bar with a fun feel.

We stopped here because I wanted something other than a sandwich. I ordered the fried chicken. After being dropped twice, it still wasn't cooked through. Rather than try again and dry out all the open parts, the server suggested I try something else so I ordered the special. Meanwhile, I have to eat my sides so they don't get cold. Server comes back and they don't have the special I ordered. Someone forgot to erase the board. So I take the server's recommendation for some special chicken sandwich even though I didn't really want a sandwich. While waiting, I was brought a free beer. As I don't drink beer and had ordered a cocktail, that didn't appease me. My sandwich came with free soggy fries, the bun was too big for the size of the chicken, and the chicken was overcooked and so dry I couldn't eat it. At this point, I gave up as we had already wasted too much time and needed to make a tour. So I spent $11 on a sandwich I nether wanted nor enjoyed. (the server was very apologetic)

When I last visited Scarlett O'Hara's on what should have been a busy Friday night, it was almost completely empty save for a few folks dancing to the mediocre tracks on the dance floor. Not more than two seconds after being seated, we realized that it was likely empty because of the overwhelming stench of urine and vomit (no exaggeration). We tried to give it a fair chance and ordered a round of drinks, but the smell was simply too offensive to stay any longer. I give them 2 stars because the drinks were acceptable (nothing fancy) and the service wasn't objectionable (but not anything I would describe as friendly). I hope that this was just an "off night" (as the locals in our group suggested) but I won't be in a hurry to return anytime soon.

It was literally the worst fired chicken I've ever tried in my life! It's served with a insignificant side of white gravy (of which has zero flavor). Truly a crappy experience! I strongly suggest anyone looking for a decent meal to go elsewhere. Especially if you're on vacation looking for a joint to relax and enjoy good food, this is not the place. The only reason it received 1 star, aside from the fact I can't simply give it a negative star, was their almost decent house margarita. It's was ok, not great, but drinkable.

Late night when the snowbirds have taken over, this place had an open table. We were seated next to windows that didn't open, so it was humid and sticky. Our drinks came quickly but the appetizer was slow. I asked for an order of mozzerella sticks and they came and after one bite I was done. Something was wrong because the cheese was more like ricotta. I'm surprised I didn't get sick. The waitress didn't even offer to replace them. Disappointed!

Interesting find. Wanted to go to the Floridian, however it was closed as they say they are filming a show for Emeril. Alas, after paying $5 to park, we looked around and found ourselves here for dinner. We were greeted awkwardly at an entrance, which appeared due to construction. The place itself is interesting. Lots of obvious Gone With The Wind references and decor. Had a happy hour 2 for 1 special and little buffet. The menu is limited but passable. It seems it thrives on Flagler college students, and a smattering of others like us. Hot Wife had the salad, which was unacceptable. Any slimy lettuce does not go undetected. She does not wish to contract ecoli or hepatitis, so numerous pieces were removed, leaving half of the salad uneaten at minimum. The lettuce was not crisp in any way shape or form. This needs to be addressed. The service was good. Had a younger version of Matthew McConaughey from Dazed and Confused. Awkward mustache, but he got some digits from a younger girls table, so alright alright alriight.

The restaurants namesake is Scarlett O'Hara, one of my all time favorite book characters! The interior pays homage to Gone with the Wind with grandiose paintings of both Scarlet and Rhett. However, the similarities to the socialite star and to Antebellum glory ends here. The restaurant resembles more of a post Civil War shanty-town with its loud music, high top tables, low brow food selections, and TV scattered around. If its intimacy and refined music you seek, look no further than NEXT DOOR at Rhett's Piano Bar and Brassier! Sleek sophistication and "Old World" dinning await, not to mention a commanding painting of Rhett Butler looming at the entrance! Hello Nurse! While Rhett's is certainly rooted more in Southern luxury, it does not have the one tantalizing object calling me back--- the GIANT Chicken Wings! The Anti-Antebellum ramshackle of Scarlett O'Hara's is a curious contradiction but when surrounded by Gone with the Wind memorabilia and eating the worlds BIGGEST Chicken Wings the thought goes out the window! Perhaps if author Margaret Mitchell ate here she'd re-title the book, "Gone with the WINGS!"

Really good food and drink specials. $2 domestics like Yeungling and $3 crafts like shocktop and Sam Adams. I had the BBQ pulled pork taco and a grilled shrimp taco. Both were super flavorful. My bf had the enchilada and he loved it. They also have really good corn bread. The onion rings however were not good. They seemed under cooked and the batter just slid right off of them. I recommend this place, just skip the onion rings. :)

I'd really give this a 3.5 if I could. The 2nd night on vacation, my husband and I made our own impromptu bar crawl. Scarlett O'Hara's made the cut. We both dug the atmosphere, and service (and drinks, of course!). It was a fun, but chill spot, which is my kind of place. The 2nd time, we met up with friends also randomly staying in St. Augustine and decided to go for dinner. The food was...okay. it wasn't bad, as it was mostly your typical bar grub; all things fried. But things were just very greasy. And while I like the occasional fried fish, or chicken, I don't want, or need the grease. I'd definitely go back for drinks! Service was great, both nights.

They were sticky, sweet, crispy and decilicous, perfect with my cocktail (Rhett's last straw, made with local St. Augustine gin!) all in all good food and drinks, our waitress Sara was really great.

To the new owners: Job well done. We love the history of this place. The previous ownership let it go to waste. However, the new owners are killing it. The new menu is fantastic! My husband and I used to go here all the time and loved it. Always great service and good wings. They recently changed management and got rid of almost the entire staff so it's a lot different. It's not bad but not the same atmosphere as it once was. We still go there to eat but not as often.

I will never return to this bar again. First the bartender was unfriendly and took my drink order but not my girlfriends then after a few minutes came with my drink and got mad when my girlfriend ordered the same drink after about a minute he returned with my girlfriends drink which was bright red while mine was yellowish orange after she took a sip she literally thought he didnt put any alcohol in hers so we decided to just finish our drinks and leave but the whole time we were trying to drink he sat there staring at us to where we had to try and focus on eachother or stare at the tv to avoid making eye contact with him. Finally we finished our drinks asked for the check and he had to make some rude comment about us leaving by far the worst bar i have ever been to if you are even considering going here there are places close by where you will get great service and actually have a good time.

Was pleasantly surprised at the new menu. It is all southern fair and everything I tried was delicious. We had the sourdough spin dip for our app and it was seriously the best spinach and artichoke dip I've ever had!! My boyfriend got the bacon wrapped meatloaf with collard greens and mashed potatoes and i got the fried chicken with sweet potato casserole and broccoli and cheese. I love what the new owners have done with the place and I'm looking forward to seeing what's to come!

Everything went wrong after sitting at the bar here at Scarlett's. The bartender was a small brunette female who was super rude. The menu was truly disappointing- it was nothing but sub-par bar food! My 9 dollar drink came served in a plastic cup. Speaking of the drink- I ordered the "Gone with the wind" and it was so sweet with schnapps' I couldn't even drink half of it. Gross. Then the sky opened up and starting POURING down rain, leaving us STUCK here. No one was happy with their drinks or appetizers so we did not order anything else. We braved the rain to go next door to Rhett's. Or should I say, we braved the heavy lightening and thunder in order to leave... Thought this place would be something COMPLETELY different. We were wrong! Has college bar written all over it...

We were looking for a place to eat amongst the construction in Historic St Augustine on a hot day. We were disappointed to find a couple of places completely closed for lunch due to the construction, and eventually we decided to eat here. I could see how eating dinner here, on a cool evening without construction might be very charming. However, my Mahi-mahi sandwich was dry and overcooked, a serious disappointment. My wife said her burger was ok, but she's never had a burger she didn't enjoy, and hasn't mentioned it since (if it was really good I would have heard about it by now). Overall, not worth the price and we certainly will not be returning if ever in the area again.

Went in last night (Saturday), and there was a crappy dj playing music that no one was dancing to, and the place was not packed at all. Paid the bill, and went to the White Horse. Wish I could comment on the food! The first time we went we waited for about a half an hour before the waiter came and said, not "I'm sorry for your wait." but rather, "I was giving you time to decide." No drink order, no water, no thank you, we left. Thinking we would try again a few months down the line and we didn't want to condemn them completely for the actions of one waiter, we returned on June 11 in the evening . The establishment was not busy. We were seated and told,"Your server will be with you in a sec!" About 10 minutes later, we decided to leave. On the way out there were no less than 5 staff messing around in the hall between areas. Two seemed to be practicing their dance moves, none seemed interested in working. This is not how hospitality should be run. While the staff are certainly culpable the real problem is with the management, or lack there of. Fortunately we were able to find another restaurant that offered service instead of blank looks. We will not try again.

I've been here two Thanksgiving seasons in a row and both times have been awesome. The two for one margaritas is an amazing deal- margs are about $4 each so the 2 for 1 deal gets you pleasantly buzzed. We got pulled pork enchilada and that was delicious but what really made us go WOW was the Jalapeño Cheese Grits. Even if you hate grits you'll love these. It's not super spicy. It's perfect, just like Scarlet O'haras.

I've been here a number if times. It's close to Flagler College and in the center of town. Night life is the best time for fun and a great meal. They used to do karaoke on Friday evenings. What a fun bar! While on vacation I managed to visit this spot twice! I was so impressed with the first visit so I had to go back and bring my friends! Who doesn't love GWTW? Even if you're not a fan you will appreciate the beer! They have pictures from the film throughout the establishment and they even offer a Scarlett Red Beer! Of course, that is what I had to try. It sure was delicious. Both visits it was easy to get a drink and the bartenders were nice. They do have a $2 cover; at least they did both nights I went, but that's not much of a cover at all. No biggie. They have outside seating (some rocking chairs), an outside bar, and an upstairs area as well as the indoor seating and bar. Most nights they offer a live band and both nights I enjoyed the music. It does get crowded so you will need to be sure you move through crowds well. I'm pretty good at that. If you are in the area it is worth stopping by for at least a drink, and maybe you can snap a picture with Scarlett while you're there?!?! I recommend it.

The two stars are for the location and the lovely live music we are listening to (mixed with annoying loads music from the bar right next to us). My husband and I were starving when we walked by and decided to share fish and chips. We also ordered the fried green beans to share. Well let me just say I'm not a picky eater at all but the food tasted so horrible I literally had one fried green bean, one small piece of fish and two fries. I don't know if the oil was bad that everything was fried in but it made my stomach turn and I just could not eat the food even though I was starving. I did enjoy the draft jai lai they had.

When I say I love pork, I firmly stand behind the "other white meat" - i LOVE it. So, needless to say when I see a pulled pork BBQ sandwich, i start foaming at the mouth! In Orlando, my favorite pulled BBQ heaven is found at Wildside BBQ: yelp.com/biz/wildside-bb… However, when I visit St. Augustine, which is easily three times a year, I stop here to enjoy this yummo overflowing delight on a scrumptious bun! They also have solid margaritas on the rocks. The restaurant has a cute old time house feel that matches the little old town. They have a front porch that has live musicians gracing the airwaves as you relax and enjoy your lunch or dinner and take in the surroundings. Inside there is a musty smell that takes you back to an old time saloon and has various gone with the wind memorabilia and portraits. This is a great little period restaurant and when in the area, it's a definite stop on the tour!

Went here after doing a web search for restaurants in St. Augustine and this place came well recommended. We were greeted upon walking in the front door and were seated immediately. We sat upstairs in a little bar area that was pretty cool. We ordered a bar b que plate to share since it looked like a ton of food and we were not wrong. Huge portion of ribs, pulled pork shoulder and fries. Good food with a nice smoky sauce that we both enjoyed. Our waitress was really cool, my wife and I are a bit picky and when it comes to a few things and my wife asked if she could taste the BBQ sauce before we ordered the ribs and without batting an eye or making us feel like we were hassling her she got us a portion cup and made sure we were happy. Also, a big deal for me is that my soda is filled a lot and it was. It was about 3pm on a Sunday so to say they weren't crazy busy is accurate but still a good number of people even between the lunch and dinner rushes but everyone was being helped. The meal was filling, the price was decent and the food was good and the service very good. We enjoyed it and will go back again sometime.

Ugh. Since my last review, I've gone back to Scarlett's twice. Absolutely HATED every second of it. If you get a chance to go during the daytime- the place isn't half bad. It's not a bad place to sit at the bar on the back porch, enjoy a meal and a cold beer, and watch the tourists walk by. Food isn't amazing, but it's not half bad, and the service is usually decent... But by night, the douchebags come out, guns blazing... This place SUCKS. Absolutely PACKED- you will not be able to go in or out, and if you do somehow get a table or a chance to get inside, you will not move. Period. Will take you HOURS to get a drink. Will take you HOURS to go to the restroom. Bouncers are dicks to the highest degree. This place drives me insane with rage, and I will NEVER go back. There are DOZENS of great bars in the area- choose ANY of them over this place.

They get points for being a unique little place with an old school feel. I definitely like the location and the decor. Unfortunately, the food really didn't match the rest of the experience. The French Dip is a simple meal to begin with, and it doesn't take much to make a great one. This was one of the most forgettable ones I've had. Not very meaty and not very flavorful. Meh...that's about all I can say. My family and I went for lunch on a Monday and the food was just OK. In retrospect, I might have sat outside if it hadn't been so hot and at midday; that looked like a happening place. Inside it seemed like a pretty cool place, but it didn't really measure up for me. The high point was definitely our server, Collin, who was attentive and gave us information about the city. I know it's "bar food" so I wasn't expecting fine dining, but my fish and chips was lukewarm at best. They didn't have the drink I ordered, either. I wouldn't say I'd run back here, but I can't say I'd refuse, either.

I feel like Scarlett O'Hara's has been under-rated by my fellow Yelpers. Not because what they say isn't true but because these are the things that give this place its charm. Scarlett's is a bar, and they serve bar food. They are not trying to be fancy or ostentatious. It is a place for regular folks to go hang out, have a drink and get some bar food. It's one of the more affordable places around the St. George street area and I have always been happy with the food I have ordered there. It's a little grungy and the service is sometimes a bit slow but these are the things you should expect for a place like Scarlett's. If I were going to complain about something I suppose it would be the cigarette smoke. I'm spoiled living in a place were smoking isn't allowed even on the patios.

Happy hour outside is where it's at! If you're downtown and looking for some fresh seafood, I recommend the bucket of steamed oysters and the peal & eat shrimp. The staff is young (and fun) and it's very affordable. I've had other things there that are exactly as good as they should be (nothing mind-blowing). They're consistent!

It's our second day in St. Augustine and we're driving around the town trying to find a place to eat because we're STARVING. We remembered the waitress at so and so reccommended this restaurant to us so when we came upon this place we decided Scarlett's it is. First off, I love the fact that this was a house built in the 1800's. The look inside this restaurant is very warm and inviting. What I found a bit creepy though, is that upstairs which is called the "Ghost Bar" is where the owner of the house drowned in his bathtub. SCARY! The waitress said sometimes customers can feel his presence. GLAD I didn't because I am the scaredy cat of ALL scaredy cats! Luckily, we sat downstairs. Our waitress was heedful and kind, but I have to admit the food was pretty mediocre. Though the onion rings were tastey (they add hot sauce to them), the BBQ pork sandwich and mashed potatoes were a bit tasteless to me. Nevertheless, this is an excellent bar to hang out and have a few drinks!

Scarlett's is a great dive in downtown St. Augustine. We typically make a stop when sightseeing to grab a couple cold beers. There is a trolley stop nearby and if you are riding you can hop off, grab a beer and make it back before the next one comes.

I have been coming to Scarlett O'Hara's for years. It has pretty good burgers and beer. But I wouldn't suggest going crazy with the menu. It's just bar food. The restaurant has a pretty dark interior that is cavernous! It would be great for groups but it does have a smell of stale beer. For this reason I only sit outside at the bar or at the tables on the porch, where there is usually live music and good people watching. It's always fun out there and, if nothing else, you can watch one of the many televisions.

My family & I stopped into Scarlett O'Hara's for lunch one afternoon & although we enjoyed sitting outside we were hoping for more than 'bar food'. Speaking of bars, there is a bar inside & outside of the establishment. OHaras offer a large menu with many options however overall, most items are fried or typical tourist dive restaurant type options. The price point is a little high for the quality of food in my opinion. I know that this location & Rhett's (next door) is a tourist hot spot but I think there are probably better local options with better quality food. If you are looking for a great place to grab drinks and maybe an appetizer then this is a spot to consider. Beyond that, this is not a place for a dining experience. Service was poor, at best. Overall, we had an OK lunch but I would try other places before ever returning.

This is an AMAZING place to eat! If you go, make sure you order the most amazing onion rings, and anything with BBQ sauce is just an addiction! I go to Scarlett's every time I'm in St. Augustine. And at times, will drive just to eat at Scarlett's!

Scarlett is sort of the tourist bar/restaurant of St. Augustine. Fairly decent drinks, better than average bar food with fairly decent service and attractive surroundings. It's one of those places on the tourist destination map that generally turns out to be a must stop. Is it gimmicky? Yes, but that is what most likely adds to its popularity. It's not a chain, but I found the atmosphere to be rather chain like, anything but leisurely and laid back.

I stopped here on a friends recommendation. While the location is tucked away, it does have adequate parking around the corner.....FYI, parking is $6.00. When we entered the restaurant, several tables were dirty where people had just left, (or at least I hope they did) so it took a few minutes for a staff member to clean a table where we could have a good view of the whole restaurant. There is no hostess, so you will need to sit yourself. I would probably classify this as a dive location, with a flare of southern "bitchiness". It reminded me of a bar / food eatery when I was in college. There may very well be a reason I had this flashback, as a college is just around the corner. For starters, the outside patio was crowded and the folks appeared to be very happy with the drinks and the food. We sat inside so that we could take in the whole dining experience and decor. My wife had the chicken tender platter, with fries and cole slaw. The slaw had more of an onion taste than we were used to but it was good. I had the hearty french dip with fries and cole slaw. The french dip was very nice, lots of provolone cheese, bread was hot and fresh, and the au-jus was enough to complete the whole sandwich. I was surprised at how fast we were able to eat this meal, as it was just too good to put down. I would come back here again, but do not expect this place to satisfy your fine dining or eclectic taste. This is a dive bar/restaurant, which serves good food at a fairly reasonable price. We stopped in for a drink while trying to find a good place to hang out. Hardly anyone was in there and the band was kind of terrible, but we had a good drink and a friendly bartender. It's in a cool, old house, which gives it a fun atmosphere. Not much to write home about though.

This was a terrible place to go. For one, they charged a $2 cover fee, for a band that wasn't playing. Me and my boyfriend went upstairs to get a table to eat. The waitress took our drink order, then came back a few minutes later with my beer and a water because she forgot what he ordered. We reminded her and she went back to get it. She later took our dinner order, again not writing anything down. I got fried shrimp and he ordered crab cakes. She comes back a few minutes later to see if pickles and onions were ok for him, which made me suspicious since he got a platter, but I didn't say anything to her because she left too quickly. When the food came out there was a BBQ sandwich and shrimp scampi. Another person brought our food out and thought the wrong table number was written down there. But our waitress came and said that was our food, and I had to correct her that we neither ordered Bbq sand. Nor shrimp scampi. She looked confused and walked away, never once apologizing. Worst service I've ever received. I understand it's a bar, but that was just pathetic. Don't waste your time or money going here!!

We had a nice time sitting on the porch drinking our excellent house cocktails. Unfortunately outside is also the smoking section & we had to move when the smoke got to us. They were very busy but our waitress was very nice & have good service. I had a great house salad but my husbands chicken sandwich was bland & over fried. I went from 3 to 2 stars due to my clam strips & his onion rings which were hideous. Under fried, soggy & gross.

We wanted a "fun", casual atmosphere & a location that was close to everything for my son's rehearsal dinner. Not being from Florida, or anywhere near it for that matter, I had to depend on what others had to say. So, I had checked out the previous reviews for Scarlett O'Hara's & I was a little hesitant to book it from what I read. After several conversations with Corinna, the manager, we decided to go for it. We are all so glad that we did! We arrived a couple days before the wedding and found out that it was two doors away from the house we had rented, so why not go over, get a drink & check it out. We sat on the outdoor porch(middle of the day), people watched & enjoyed our drinks. Great drinks! Great atmosphere! The night of the Rehearsal Dinner, the staff could not have been more accommodating. We had the Ghost Bar to ourselves filled to capacity with 32 people. We had our own private bar & bartender which helped. Before we sat down, it was a little crowded, but not too bad. The food was served quickly & efficiently. I wasn't expecting much from the food, figuring that it would be the typical bar food, but was pleasantly surprised. This is not a high end restaurant, so don't expect that type of food. Absolutely everyone (all 32) loved their meal and felt the food was excellent, prepared well and with good presentation. I watch Restaurant Impossible, so feel like an expert on this. :) The bill & charges were exactly what we had agreed to, so I was really happy about that. We came back the next night after the wedding. They had a great band again. All in all... this is a fun place to go with great atmosphere, great food, great entertainment in a great location in historic downtown St. Augustine. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for just hanging out or for that small private party.

Stopped in because a lot of places around St Augustine were closed. Almost got mowed down twice by a guy working there with a beard who didn't even acknowledge our presence but just gave us a nasty look and blew past us. Burger was pretty good, fries were pretty bad, I'd skip this place if you're in town.

The front porch is the place to hangout at Scarlet O'Hara's. I've never eaten here, but for a chilled beer on a hot day, it's pretty nice. The building has the look of a rustic old southern home and the front porch has been expanded to feature a bar. Often times there is a musician or two playing on the porch. All this plus it's location right in the historic downtown make it a really relaxing place to chill.

My boyfriend and I were wandering around St. Augustine and were trying to pick a place to eat. We wanted something good, but not hugely pricey. After passing up a few restaurants because of their prices, we happened upon Scarlett's and decided that we were hungry and it looked good enough... with the number of people there it had to be good, right? wrong. My bf got the steak and grilled shrimp, which left him hungry and feeling ripped off. I got the ribs, which I just personally hated. I'm very sensitive to spicey foods and the amount of pepper on them burned my mouth so badly I could barely eat 3 ribs even when I tried to drown them with bbq sauce. The bf didn't have an issue with my ribs though, so it's just a personal preference. In the end, we both left feeling like we could have gotten a much better meal for much less money somewhere else... and we're still wondering why there were so many people. No, I would never go back there.

Won't tell you how long I've been going to Scarlett's legally but wow- am I getting old! Anyway it's still one of my fave places to go when I'm home- not just for the memories- but cuz it's cool. Grab a beer and sit in a rocking chair on the porch and watch St. Augustine walk by. Seriously fun both day and night and the food may be pub grub but its good. If you can't sit outside (and those rockers fill up really fast) then the next best place to sit is upstairs. There's rumors of a ghost but in all my too many to count visits, I've never seen it. Maybe next time...

Great place. Been coming here for years. The bar food is typical sports bar food. The wings ate great! The red velvet cake dessert is totally awesome!! The atmosphere is very good, and they had a great 80's band there on Saturday night when we were there. Don't do the absinthe!!!! It is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't say it enough. We went here for a few drinks on my bachelor party night. A truly great St. Augustine place!!

Great place to hang out and people watch. The food is cheap for St. Augustine. I love their onion rings, sweet tea and French dip. It's just the right place to go to on night one of your vacation, if you are looking for fast service and good food that's close enough to walk to from just about any hotel in downtown. It's has live music on the porch and is located in a great old house and creeks and squeaks in all the right places. As it's name implies, it's done up with Gone With The Wind style. Another great place that the locals tend to hang out at.

Ok. It could be that it was July 4th weekend but our waitress acted as if she'd rather be on the beach than serving us, mixing up drink and food orders. I was looking forward to good old southern fried chicken and mashed potatoes. The chicken was burned and the potatoes tasted sweet like they had sugar in them. All in all, there were 4 of us in the group and we were very underwhelmed. We won't be returning.

My husband and I chose to do a restaurant/bar hop yesterday around St Augustine to take advantage of the beautiful weather. Scarlett O'Hara's was our 2nd stop on our tour. We were lucky enough to get a spot on the porch to enjoy the perfect day! I had the Scarlett O'Hara cocktail from the menu and thoroughly enjoyed it. We chose to do appetizers and drinks at this stop. We had the nachos and drinks. The waitress was pleasant, the porch was great for people watching and enjoying the weather, and the drinks were free flowing. We did not feel rushed and the tab was fair for the historic area. Take the opportunity to enjoy this little hideaway!

They had the limited menu with about 3 over prices options. My party got one of each from the $12 burger, the $11 dollar BBQ pork sandwich, and the hotdog (I think it was like $8). First, I asked if they had sweet tea and the waiter seemed very unsure if they did. He then said that he thinks they do so I asked for it. It wasn't sweet at all and he didn't give me a straw. It took asking for a straw two times to get one after I had already drank three fourths of the tea. We then asked if we could have the meals with a double order of fries instead of a side of fries and cole slaw. The server said it should be fine. After waiting a long time for our meals, we get overcooked dry burgers, a hotdog that looks like it came from a baseball stadium, and a pork sandwich that was lacking flavor to be worth $11. Also, it turns out they couldn't do two sides of fries instead of the coleslaw and the server didn't bother to let us know before our food came out. We tried the coleslaw and it was awe full. Another thing, the drinks came in a plastic cup, and the food in a paper plate that they use in stadiums. When we asked for ketchup, they brought us a bunch of ketchup packets and the silverware was ALSO plastic! The server barely refilled our drinks and paid little attention to the fact that the food that was terrible. Over all, it was a terrible experience and I would not return, even if the real menu is supposedly great, because the service was terrible and the food options that were on that limited menu was prepared poorly! You would think that with a limited menu, and at a slow service, the food would come out perfectly crafted, but that was not the case at all!

After walking past this place for I don't know how many years, we finally decided to give it a try. It does have a charming feel about it and it is always crowded. Of course I usually go the St. Augustine on a weekend, but this was an exception. We went on a Wednesday eve. It wasn't crowded when we got there, but was filling up when we left. We each ordered a side salad and fish and chips. The fish and chips were hardly authentic. They were more like fish fingers and the chips were skinny, little fries. I didn't get a lot of fish taste when I bit into the tiny fingers. They weren't awful, but I was expecting higher quality than Mrs. Paul. The tartar sauce was also kind of bland, which didn't help. Give it a try. You may have better luck with the other menu choices/

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. The place was packed, so we had to scrounge for a table. (it's "seat yourself") The setting in this establishment is mostly a bar-like atmosphere with paintings of Gone with the Wind characters and scenes on the walls. I have to start off with the bad news. The service at this place was terrible. The table we ended up getting was one that had half eaten food on it, and one that we had to hover over to ensure we could sit there. It took several minutes for someone to clear it. On to the food. We all ordered simple sandwiches, and we spent just under an hour until our food arrived. I know the place was crowded, but that's a little ridiculous. As far as the food quality, it was actually pretty good, but it should've been for the length of time we sat there. If this place could figure out their service, especially on a Saturday around midday, then they'd definitely be a lot better off.

The bbq pork sandwich and the onion rings are great. It's a dirty place, but people should expect that when you walk in from the outside. If you don't want to go in, stay out. Our waitress was really nice and she recommended some items off the menu. It was actually a nice breeze coming in at where we were sitting at on the second floor. Be prepared to see a lot of bikers there.

Very fun little bar for a good kickback. Here's a great place to grab a drink after a long day of walking the historic district. My fiance and I grabbed a few drinks here befor our dinner at Retts next door. We were fairly impressed. They have a very fun and casual environment, full of all kinds of crowds including drunks, hippies, families, wedding parties (weird) and people that just happen to be walking by. The drink selection is good, but my lady did complain that her drink was too strong (good looking out guys). I never did try the food so I'll let you know on that next time. I'll be back.

Great, fresh food! There was straight to the point service & they were very accommodating with my food allergies (except the bbq sauce they served me had black pepper & I got a reaction after eating it.) Aside from that, the grilled chicken I had was the freshest chicken I have EVER tasted...very very good. The one thing I wish I did was sit outside..the entertainment was cool. Inside is super dark & closed in.

The place has a great look to it and of course if your in St Augustine you should try to have at least one drink there. Shoot for happy hour because this place gets way over capacity....at least it looks like it. They have an outside deck, it's small but in the summer it's awesome to sit at and people watch. Otherwise, this place doesn't have anything different to offer from any other dive bar...ok food, ok service, ok drinks. Rhett's Piano bar recently opened up next door...nice, classy joint.

I have been coming here since the mid90s. It is always a first and last stop on my trip. In college, it was the place to go every Thursday night in St Augustine. Amazing bar food. The burgers are always juicy, the shrimp is never overcooked, and drinks are strong. The rum runners are FANTASTIC!!! They will make them with 151 but be careful because you will be drunk after 2 (and if you are a lightweight, not even 1) and they are not even $7. It is a dive bar and it serves bar food but its obvious from the outside. They never rush you. Definitely underrated. I've never had anything bad here. BEST bar food!!!

Great location, food was OK at best. I was so torn on this place. I was not sure whether to give one star or two. We saw this place as we toured the city on the tram. It looked like a great pub that we would like to visit. They had a sign outside that listed their specials of 50 cent wings, oysters or shrimp which was the reason that we decided that this would be the place for our dinner. You just cannot beat the price. The place was packed and we found a nice pub table to sit at. We ordered our drinks and were served our drinks quickly. My husband ordered 6 oysters, which came in various level of being steamed (they do not server raw). He ordered the lightest steamed oysters. The waitress mentioned that they just got a new shipment in today.To our surprise they came in a bucket and platter unopened. He needed to shuck them open to eat them. He ate 5, but when he got to the 6th one, it was bad. He told the waitress, who tried everything to make it right for us. I order the medium hot wings, which we good, but not the best I have ever had. So I would have to say that this was not a memorable place for us. Too bad...we wanted this to be a wonderful find...oh well.

For the outside deck/porch bar only... During our most recent visit to St. Aug we wandered into the porch bar in the afternoon a couple of times and had a great time... Friendly people, good bartender (Josh) cold drinks and a fun atmosphere.I had a couple good/strong strawberry dacs and on the 2nd visit my hubby just had to go with a bucket of fresh oysters.. yes, in a bucket with a 2nd bucket for shells... Can't speak to the nightlife or the dinners.. but as a nice stop during the day to have a few.. loved it !

NO NAY NEVER. As my experience with Scarlett's has grown, so has my disdain. The thing about Scarlett's is, you can go there any given night, and have an okay time. But you will always know you could be having a way better time at any number of other nearby establishments. Scarlett's has become a go-to for the lazy. Hordes of people have it at the top of their local night-out list solely due to convenience, and that's a damn shame. For the price of cover and a drink at Scarlett's, you could be on drink three or four at several other bars in the area, AND not getting harassed by some leathery boatcougar who can only express herself in slurred obscenities and the sound "HAW HAW HAW". Is Scarlett's a redneck bar? No! That would be tradewinds. Is Scarlett's a hipster bar? No! That would be the Tavern. Is Scarlett's a bar for a mixed crowd of cool people? No! That would be No-Name. So what IS Scarlett's? It's the sort of place where they close the kitchen at 11:00, and then if you try to eat outside food on the porch, even though you're drinking their alcohol, some dork bouncer with a douchebag bleach-tipped fauxhawk will power-trip on your ass and tell you to eat on the sidewalk. Scarlett's is a dive of the worst possible kind: a dive with an ego. This place sucks. Avoid.

We came as tourists to this neat town and this establishment popped up in internet research. The name and description implied some sort of entertaining reminiscence of "Gone with the wind", so we went for lunch. The good: Our waitress was very friendly and the food was not bad. We had a mix of salads, sandwiches and finger foods, nothing super classy. For that it was pretty fresh looking and tasty. We sat outside, which gave us some fresh air and we watched the tourists go by. The bad: the place reminded me of a dive. There were anxious looking tourists and a couple of locals that looked like they just got off a pirate boat. Two stars for: I had better, and there are better establishments. - If you like dives and still want to eat good food, this may be your place. - If you want to see interesting characters, this is your place. - If you expect something classy like in "Gone with the Wind, this ain't it, run as fast as you can.

Sure, Scarlett's is dirty. Sure, it's slightly on the sketchy side. Sure, it looks like you might have the immediate urge to wash yourself just by walking by, but no one can argue the fact that Scarlett's is a darn good place to hang out. Scarlett's is basically the epitome of down home local night life in St. Augustine. Walking through the door, you're as likely to see a few tourists as you are to see your 7th grade English teacher, and fourteen kids you went to high school with. During the semester, Scarlett's is also a regular hang out for Flagler College students. The drinks tend to be a little more on the expensive side, but what they make you over-pay in drink prices, they make up for in people-watching. Scarlett's features a karaoke night, trivia night, happy hour daily, and live music on the weekends. The bands featured are usually great, but, like any local music scene, can sometimes miss the mark. Contrary to popular belief, you can eat the food there. The weekly wing specials are a favorite with the Flagler crowd. Don't feel like paying cover on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays? That's fine. Head down the street to the No Name Bar on the bay front. Sure, the drinks are cheaper over there, but it's a whole lot less grimy than Scarlett's, and who wants that? Part of Scarlett's charm is the fact that it has just the right amount of sketch and local flare.

Down for a few days for a business trip, another Rhode islander had told me to find this place, and I'm glad I did! Steamed oysters, spicy chicken wings,shrimp and even fried alligator were tried by 3 of us,and we couldn't believe how much we got for so little coin.My only complaint was that the beer wasn't very cold, but the selection made up for it. I think our bill came to 80.00 before tip and we ate a LOT of the items listed above as they were offered at 50 cents each (not the gator). Fun atmosphere...dive-ish in a cool way, with a nice outside deck . Any time I'm in St. Augustine down the road? I'll be stopping back here !

Went out with some USA students for the Auggy experience and ended up at O'hara's. Interesting inside and out, there is always something to look at. After dark on the weekends, they have a DJ. Needless to say, we were having ourselves a good 'ol time :) Good with a group or just a couple of friends.
